“They still have budgets when they come in, but they seem to want to cut back in other areas. They’d rather have that half hour of solace and relaxation and stress relief.” Deep freestanding bathtubs, whirlpool and spa tubs are more common in well-appointed homes.
This dream toilet can be programmed for six different users, so it will automatically know your preferences for heat, music and more. “There is a little spritzer too, so you can have different scents,” Puhacz says. “There’s not much it doesn’t do.” With speakers set up all around the tub, you can listen to music both above and below the water. For a sublime soaking sensation, Kohler makes the VibrAcoustic bathtub, which The Ensuite offers in a selection of sizes starting at $3,392. With speakers set up all around the tub, you can listen to music both above and below the water. You can choose preset music developed by a sound therapist or you can stream your own favourite songs. In addition, the tub produces vibrations that allow you to “feel” the music as you bathe. Chromotherapy options are also available, with underwater lights that change colour. “It’s so much more relaxing than a whirlpool or air tub. It just gives you an incredible therapeutic experience,” Puhacz says.
Numi Toilet from Kohler
There are also some uncommon options in local showrooms. Kohler’s Numi toilet, priced at $6,680, is at the extreme end of the luxury scale. For a royal welcome, the toilet lid automatically opens as you approach, and floor sensors indicate whether to also open the seat ring. Your tush and toes will be toasty, since heaters warm your seat and feet.
Its remote-control bidet features adjustable front and rear sprays, as well as a dryer with personalized tempera- ture settings. For added atmosphere, the toilet is preset with musical selections, and it can also play music from your Smart- phone or other device.
