“The Manitoba Home Builders’ Asso- ciation does an excellent job of pro- moting the Parade through all kinds of media. It’s a very valuable asset for us.” In its lineup this Spring, Artista is focus- ing on using bricks and glass for its in- teriors and will be featuring its unique style in a number of different ways, in- cluding a Winnipeg Jets-themed home theatre. In today’s homes, new tech- nology is key, Mr. Controneo says. “People are spending more time in their homes, so home automation is a big deal. We’re making homes more and more interactive. We have iPads built into the wall of the homes from where you can control almost every- thing.” The MHBA is expecting 40,000 peo- ple to attend the 2013 Spring Parade March 2 to 24. “The crowds remain strong, but the quality of the individual interactions has increased,” Mr. Moore says. “Today’s consumers have done their homework. They’re asking some detailed questions. “If people are interested in a home or aspect of décor, they’ve done their research beforehand. It’s refreshing to see.” Manitoba has one of the lar est Parade of Homes in the country, Mr. Moore adds. The event allows builders to showcase their products to thousands more people than it would be possible to reach on their own. Creating Dreams Cont’d from page 28
