Cont’d on page 8 Mr. Moore feels such successes as the return of the Winnipeg Jets and the recent spate of major build- ing projects – including the development of south- west Winnipeg with IKEA as well as the new Bomber stadium, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and the transit corridor – have bolstered the hous- ing industry and vice-versa.
The local resale market is also strong, with an increase of be- tween four and five per cent last year, Mr. Moore says. “Homes continue to increase in price on a regular basis and the apartment vacancy rate is still under one per cent. We have a three month inventory of houses with half as many re- sale listings per capita as other major Canadian cities.”
