“When you walk into the hall, (homeowners) really want you to see it, especially with these open-concept (floor plans),” she says. “You can get a wallcovering that can tie two completely different colour tones together, the same way that fabric does.
“It might be in the middle of two rooms, but it’s going to be a focal point, or it’s a wall in the bedroom. Bathrooms are another area that people want to dress up because it’s not a big area.” Pick a pattern: Old-fashioned florals have made way for larger patterns, with some repeating every 24 or 30 inches. “The patterns have changed, thank goodness,” Kuchciak says with a chuckle. “At one point, I thought if I never saw another flower again it would be too soon.” Popular choices include damask and those with sparkle or texture.
