A SINGLE LAUNDRY MACHINE WILL WASH, DRY AND COMPACT CLOTHES INTO PELLETS THAT CAN BE “REVIVED” WHEN YOU NEED TO GET DRESSED.

RISE OF THE MACHINES — Cont’d from page 125

Well, GE has some predictions. Back in 1960, a visionary GE design team came up with some ideas for the home of the future — refrigerator ice dispensers and induction cookers included. So now, GE has come up with some ideas for the home of 2025. Projected innovations include an in-sink dishwasher that will finish a small load in five minutes, and a kitchen disposal that will turn food waste into compost pellets. A single laundry machine will wash, dry and compact clothes into pellets that can be “revived” when you need to get dressed. And appliances that already take inventory of food in your refrigerator will automatically order groceries online. Delivery people will be able to access a refrigerated cupboard from outside your home for the ultimate in convenience. As GE says, it will be the dawn of a new age — the return of the milkman.
