When it comes to vegetables, nothing beats homegrown. But is it worth taking on the daunting task of building, planting and maintaining your own garden? Absolutely, says Carla Hrycyna, local growing expert and co-owner/president of St. Mary’s Nursery and Garden Centre. “Growing your own food is going to become more and more important, not only for food saving costs — and don’t get me wrong, sometimes that water bill can be a little hefty depending on the season — but the pride and texture and taste that you get from anything homegrown is so much better,” she says.
