To create a palpable feeling of isolation, the primary bedroom was placed in its own private area to the left and behind the loft. A wide hallway was then carved out between the study area and loft to house the main bath and secondary bedrooms. “The thing to note about this area is that it contains not two but three large bedrooms,” he says. “The bathroom was placed at the begin- ning of the wing, and then the three bedrooms were positioned to the rear. Doing that created great separation between the primary bedroom and secondary bedrooms, which is something I think families will appreciate.”

Exhibit A is a compact wing that was placed discreetly to the right of the wide, welcoming foyer. “It holds a bedroom and a three- piece bath, the area ideal to func- tion as an in-law suite. Ventura’s design team went above and beyond with the bedroom. Not only is it a good size, but it also has a huge window and a walk-in closet, which would be pretty rare.” Take the gorgeous staircase up to the second floor and the sense of style and space continues without missing a beat. “I think families will like what they see when they get to the top of the stairs: a gigantic loft,” Dundas says. “There’s a study area tucked away to the right, with a media area on the far wall left to a huge transom window.
