“The lots are so much larger, and there are so many beauti ful greenspaces and walking paths. It’s impressive,” says Koop. “People who live there want an ease of lifestyle.” Townhome-style condos are another attractive option. StreetSide Developments will feature two townhome devel opments in the Parade of Homes, including its Bluestem Con dominiums in Sage Creek. “One of the nicer features is that each townhome has an at tached garage and snow-removal services. These are perks not usually associated with a condo,” says Brenlee Coates, StreetSide’s marketing coordinator. “Bluestem has the space and feel of a single-family home with the maintenance-free aspect of a condo.” The three-storey homes have a bathroom on each floor and a sundeck on the second level. And Coates says buyers love the location. “They’re close to the walking trails in Sage Creek, and they’re literally minutes away from all the amenities in Sage Creek, so it’s very convenient,” she says. StreetSide’s Hudson Condominiums in Devonshire Village feature three bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths, and 1,277 square feet of living space, not including an unfinished base ment. “It’s a very affordable opportunity in the area, and a good op portunity for first-time homeowners. You get to be an early adopter of the area,” says Coates. “There are nice big porches on either side, and every shop you can hope for is located nearby along Regent.” StreetSide has the apartment-style front covered, too. The MIX, at 10 Hill Grove Point in Bridgwater Forest, maximizes liv ing space in two- and three-bedroom options with balconies, upgraded finishes and common fitness and activity rooms, all in a natural setting close to the Bridgwater Town Centre. Koop says many first-time home buyers are now considering condos, as are established homeowners who are looking to downsize. ‘Many potential home buyers are looking at condos as a more affordable option, and they don’t have to sacrifice a lot of living space with our townhouses. With our winters, it’s nice to have maintenance-free living— underground, heated parking is a great perk’
“As baby boomers get older, they’re simplifying their lives and gaining more freedom, but that doesn’t mean their lives are getting smaller,” he says. Coates adds that the lock-and-leave flexibility of condo miniums appeals to many buyers, including cottagers and frequent travellers. “Many potential home buyers are looking at condos as a more affordable option, and they don’t have to sacrifice a lot of living space with our townhouses,” she says. “With our winters, it’s nice to have maintenance-free living — under ground, heated parking is a great perk.” To see what condo living has to offer, visit a few models during the Spring Parade of Homes. You’ll find a range of style options from a variety of builders in every quadrant of the city, and in bedroom communities. “Manitoba does the best job with its Parade of Homes,” says Koop. “The Parade is the best way to see exciting new proj ects and floor plans, and get an idea of the innovation that’s out there.”
