Porchlight Developments will be building condo miniums on Eaglewood Drive later this year, and visitors can check out the first stage of the neigh bourhood and show homes during the Spring Pa rade of Homes. A more varied mix of homes is in keeping with a recent trend toward creating more high-density, pedestrian-friendly neighbourhoods that give home buyers more choices at various levels of af fordability, says Mike Carruthers, Ladco’s manager of land development. “The new communities are not as homogenous as they were in the past, so they are more diverse and inclusive, more nature- and health-inspired,” he says. “Walkable communities make it so the residents can be active and interact with nature along the lakes.” Ladco's next major project will be just inside city limits in an area now known simply as Precinct G in north Winnipeg. Spanning about 370 acres, it’s in the planning stages and may break ground in time to mark the company’s centennial.
