REEL PRIDE a Great Onscreen Partner for 27 years
The REEL PRIDE film festival shares the same “frame” as Pride Winnipeg, as they both started 27 years ago. Today, REEL PRIDE is the largest GLBTTQ* film festival between Toronto and Vancouver. Every October, the festival goes beyond borders by bringing local and international films that would not normally be screened in Manitoba, and gives them a home in which to shine. As REEL PRIDE has grown, it has added art exhibits, live music, industry days, galas and increased opportunities to talk with film makers
and actors. REEL PRIDE is hosting an after Pride film event on Sunday, June 8, at the Gas Station Arts Centre. This is in collaboration with the Rainbow Resource Centre's LGBTT55+ Posi- tive Space Initiative. At 2 PM there will be a showing of Gen Silent, an extraordinary docu- mentary by award winning director Stu Maddux that follows six LGBT seniors. It explores the challenges of the first “out” generation as they deal with homecare and aging. It is both
tragic and triumphant. A discussion panel will follow the screening of Generation Silent. Later that Sunday, REEL PRIDE will re-show the best of international GLBTTQ* commercials. This is a collection of funny, sexy, sometimes bizarre commercials that will make you laugh, cry and maybe even “boo” at the screen with fellow audi- ence members. It’s a sure bet, and the last chance to see this collection before it is put into the REEL PRIDE vaults.
