Construction began on the former West Kildonan industrial site in 2016, resulting from a partnership between Sunrex Management and Daytona Homes, a subsidiary of Tacada.

Aurora at North Point, reaching from McPhillips Street and bordered by Murray Avenue and the future extension of the Chief Peguis Trail, is currently in its 10 th phase of residential development. The extension of Chief Peguis will only enhance the area, making it more accessible for residents and users in future commercial and retail areas. The community is approximately 80-85 per cent complete, with one remaining phase. The last phase will include an additional park and playground to be completed in
summer 2025. “At full build-out, the community will consist of 978 low-density resi- dential homes and 516 apartment units,” Yaremko explains. “There will be two storm ponds, a natural tree stand and two playgrounds. Forty-five acres of mixed-use commercial space, called Polaris Place, is being developed by Whiteland Real Estate and includes a development concept for the area that includes space for a grocery store.” With the Garden City Shopping Centre and surrounding amenities, including several big box stores a short drive away, the area offers a wealth of conveniences and necessities. Bus service to Aurora at North Point began in September 2024, offering convenient public transportation options.
