Dalnavert Museum The Nonsuch – The Manitoba Museum Set Sail for Adventure A Glimpse of Yesterday >>Dalnavert Museum (PHS) — Once the Victorian-era home of Sir Hugh John Macdonald, former premier of Manitoba and son of Canada's first prime minister, this lovingly-restored historic site is one of Western Canada's best examples of Queen Anne Revival architecture, replete with luxury furnishings and lavish stained glass windows. The site's visitors' centre features a well-appointed gift shop and auditorium, while daily interpretive tours bring history to life for individuals and groups. www.mhs.mb.ca. >>The Manitoba Museum — This star attraction in downtown Winnipeg always draws rave reviews. Teen pop idols Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez gave it two thumbs up when they toured the museum and shared a romantic candlelit dinner on the deck of the replica 17th-century fur trade ship, The Nonsuch, during a trip to Winnipeg in 2011. If you'd rather see stars in the sky, check out the Planetarium's newly acquired state-ofthe-art digital projection technology, which employs a single seamless video image to drastically enhance visitors' viewing experiences. Or make like an astronaut in the Science Gallery's newest exhibit, Living in Space. It's a once-in a lifetime opportunity for space enthusiasts of all ages to join the International Space Station crew. Try operating Canadarm 2 and find out what it's like to eat and go to the bathroom in space. The exhibit runs into 2014. Also this fall, visitors are invited to get wrapped up in a fascinating period of Egyptian history with Wrapped! The Search for the Essential Mummy, opening Oct. 23. www.manitobamuseum.ca.
