Cont'd on page 115 THE NAUTICAL-COLOURED KITCHEN IN THE FOXRIDGE HOMES SHOW HOME IS AS CRISP AS YACHT SAILS. HOT IN THE KITCHEN — Cont'd from page 111 Down the road at 31 Hummingbird Cove, the nautical- coloured kitchen in the Foxridge Homes show home is as crisp as yacht sails, with 36-inch uppers constructed from high-density fibreboard, which will not warp and ensures a smooth paint finish. Cabinetry doors are painted in Hale Navy (blue), and Chantilly Lace (white). You half- expect to be whistled on board by the commodore. "This is a contemporary, bright and polished two- tone kitchen," says Colleen Chaput, who is marketing manager for the Qualico company. The dual theme continues in the island, which has granite countertops called Grey Fantasy flanking the range, plus a large eating ledge in a walnut finish, handy for breakfast or as a buffet for food service. Storage cabinets tucked under the eating ledge help keep the kitchen ship-shape, as do the banks of drawers — including seven on the island. The walk-in pantry features a frosted-glass barn-style door trimmed in Hale Navy, and hidden recycling and garbage depots are stowed next to the dishwasher. There's a walnut-toned floating shelf at the sink and that same colour highlights the kickboards, drawing your eye to the vinyl plank floor in Explorer Snowfall by Odyssey. Another standout feature is the pair of long narrow windows overlooking the street, running most of the length of the granite counter behind the sink, where you'd expect to find a backsplash. "It's a neighbour-friendly design, bringing extra light into the kitchen during the day and outdoor atmosphere at night," says Chaput. That window shape is repeated high up on the Raspberry Ripple dining-room wall, a colour that pops a second time on the wall cutout opposite the central island. "There's a lovely recess which can be used to place art or even a flat-screen television so you can watch your favourite cooking show while working at your range," says Chaput.
