LOCATION: 2G *March 18 SPEAKER: Carlo Dungca CAT © Certified Athletic Therapist TOPIC: Athletic Therapy ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Carlo Dungca is a graduate from the University of Winnipeg, certified as an Athletic Therapist. He has a great deal of experience with multi-sport events — the Manitoba Games, Canada Games and Western Canada Summer Games — as well as field coverage working with provincial hockey, high school football and rugby, and the professional tennis ATP Tour. LOCATION: 2H SPEAKER: Scott Naherniak, Physician Assistant, WRHA Family Medicine TOPIC: Physician Assistant ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Scott Naherniak is a graduate of the University of Manitoba's Physician Assistant program. Formerly, he was a Chiropractor and owned and operated a clinic for 14 years. Scott was the first Family Medicine Physician Assistant in Winnipeg. He has also worked as an examiner for the Clinician Assessment Program at the University of Manitoba. Scott has presented to FMF and Manitoba ASA about the role of Physician Assistant in Family Medicine. Currently he provides care in hospitals, clinics, care homes, and in private homes. LOCATION: Pan Am Room SPEAKER: Matt Purdey TOPIC: LinkedIn & Building Your Brand ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Matt Purdey is a Certified Career Development Practitioner and founder of Foresight Career Coaching. He works to help people apply best practices in their job searches, including career and education planning, job search and networking strategies, resumé and cover letter development, interview preparation, LinkedIn profile enhancement, and long-term career management strategies. Purdey has developed an 18-hour career development program for Skip The Dishes and has also worked as a consultant with the University of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg. Purdey will speak about how to build your personal brand how to best use LinkedIn. LOCATION: Presentation Theatre SPEAKER: Nathalie Massaroni, Picture Editor, Farpoint Films TOPIC: Film Industry ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Nathalie Massaroni is an editor and filmmaker from Winnipeg. Since graduating from the University of Winnipeg's film program, she has worked as a camera trainee on various projects including the feature film Siberia. Other projects she has worked on include Cruise Ship Killers, My Misdiagnosis, I Hostage, Alive and From The Vine. 12:30 p.m. LOCATION: Millennium Suite SPEAKER: Khal Shariff, CEO Project Whitecard Inc. TOPIC: Virtual Reality Development ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Khal Shariff was lead web developer at both Manitoba Telecom Services and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Toronto. He redesigned CBC.ca, receiving the English Television Award for this work. Khal was the technical lead for Hockey Night in Canada and created web presences for CBC Sports, Health Matters, CBC News, CBC Archives and The National. In 2007 Khal founded the Project Whitecard group of companies, focused on using highly visual gaming software for education. He counts as project partners the Canadian Space Agency and NASA, for which he created four highly-interactive science games. LOCATION: 2E SPEAKER: Ian Bawa TOPIC: Filmmaking ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Ian Bawa is an award-winning producer/director from Winnipeg, whose films have screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, SlamDance Film Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival and Fantastic Fest. His past work has earned him recognition in publications such as Ain't it Cool News, The AV Club, and Variety magazine, and his film, The Champ, was named a Vimeo Staff Pick. LOCATION: 2F SPEAKER: Kristen Friess, Birchwood Automotive Group TOPIC: Human Resource Management ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Kristen Friess works in Human Resources and is a Recruitment Service Advisor. With 13 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Kristen's passion for people led her to a career in Human Resources. After graduating in 2018, and prior to joining Birchwood, Kristen worked as an HR administrator in the manufacturing industry. LOCATION: 2G SPEAKER: Dwayne Rudy, CEO/CTO Evodant Interactive TOPIC: Careers in STEM ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Dwayne Rudy is the CEO/CTO of Evodant Interactive. He is a veteran systems architect, software engineer, and creative director who has led creative teams in producing award-winning work. He has expertise in artificial intelligence, interactive technologies, game development, process engineering and software/web development. LOCATION: 2H *March 17 SPEAKER: James Murphy, Manitoba Construction Sector Council TOPIC: Construction Industry ABOUT THE SPEAKER: James Murphy is the Community and Youth Liaison at the Manitoba Construction Sector Council. Prior to his role as co-ordinator, James was a business owner and also a Canadian Football League all-star receiver with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, with whom he won three Grey Cups. Murphy is a member of four football halls of fame in Canada and the United States. His presentation will focus on careers in construction. LOCATION: 2H *March 18 SPEAKER: Ramir Diaz, Manitoba Construction Sector Council TOPIC: Construction Industry ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Ramir Diaz is Co-ordinator of Education and Training with the Manitoba Construction Sector Council. A journeyperson electrician and high school instructor, Diaz hosts career awareness events with youth, immigrants, women and the Indigenous community. He also works with industry to develop and deliver micro-courses to help adults access high school, apprenticeship and post-secondary programs. Diaz will speak about careers in the construction sector. LOCATION: Pan Am Room SPEAKER: Paul Samyn, Editor, Winnipeg Free Press TOPIC: Journalism ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Paul Samyn, Editor of the Winnipeg Free Press, has been part of the Free Press newsroom for over 30 years, working his way up after starting as a rookie reporter in 1988. As a reporter, Paul has written for every section of the newspaper, covering elections, wars overseas and the funerals of a royal princess and a prime minister. LOCATION: Presentation Theatre SPEAKER: Brent Bekiaris TOPIC: Paramedic ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Brent Bekiaris is Chair of the Paramedic Association of Manitoba. Certified as an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP), Bekiaris is a Flight Paramedic for both STARS Air Ambulance and Perimeter Medivac. He serves as the Mobile Education Lead for the STARS Mobile Education Program, focusing on providing specialized critical care skill training for paramedics, nurses and physicians.
