At least 30 builders are putting out the
welcome mat during the Parade of Homes to
display some of the best options available. If
you want to live in the lap of luxury on a large
country lot, Parade builders can light the way.
They can also demonstrate how economical
choices can be shown to their best advantage,
and it's a safe bet you'll see a few creative
design options that spark your imagination.
Maybe that charming loft area would be an
ideal office if you added a door. Or maybe
you could gain space by bucking a trend and

Many plans have flexible options, and when
you choose a custom builder, you can have
everything your way, right down to what type
of nails and screws will be used — although it
is best to leave the nuts-and-bolts decisions to
the professionals.
You can also count on your builder and
design team to provide expert advice about
your home's footprint. Before you settle on a
specific home or plan, most will suggest you
think about what your life will be like five or 10
years down the road. Are you planning to have
children or do you expect to be an empty-
nester? Do your pets need a fenced yard?
Do you want to share your home with aging
parents at some point? Will you work from
home, or do a lot of entertaining?
