"Open-concept living is great. We all want
a sense of space and security in our homes,
so an airier interior is always great with a
sustainable design. Designing a home with
natural materials where you can help to
maximize light and be energy efficient and
eco-conscious is very important."
For people working from home, colour can
help separate their home space from their
workspace, Wadden suggests.
Many different shades of colour are current-
ly popular.
"Our forecasted 2023 colour of the year was
'Redend Point,' which is a warm clay-baked
brown that is absolutely usable in interiors.
People should look for that warmth when
they're bringing colours into their home,"
Wadden says.
"Green in all sorts of ranges, from deep
dark evergreen to lighter tones, have had
a strong presence since 2020. Particularly
coming out of the pandemic, we all looked
to green to ground us. That's continuing,
as well as the rise of blues — light blues,
denim blues, navy blues."
