PHOTO BY DARCY FINLEY In addition to three generations of the Jaquet family, the company relies on the expertise of many long-standing staff members. all began in 1983 when Randy Jaquet made the transition from real estate to home building — a bold move during an era of dou- ble-digit interest rates. "He built the company over the years and kept expanding and gaining name recognition," says Jason Jaquet, Randy's son who now serves as the company's vice-president. "We've always been very humble with where we started from. My father grew up in St. Vital and the running joke in the industry is that we're just a small builder from St. Vital — and that's the way everyone treats it here." Growing up in the new home building industry, Jason got his start cleaning job sites as a teenager and worked his way through all aspects of new home construction. Now his three sons represent the third generation in the family business. "Every year, their summer job is on the job site. My oldest son Colby is overseeing one of our condo projects in Sage Creek as a site supervisor. My middle son Brady is in the office working with the accounting department. My youngest son Dylan is where we all started, which is sweeping out houses and cleaning up the sites. Also, my nephew Blake is working with Dylan on the job sites," he says. "Everybody puts in hard work in every aspect, and everyone's important. There's no one above anyone here."
