>> Brandy Dobson got into the construction safety business by accident.
Dobson was in law school when she took a temporary job as an office assistant at a local
construction firm and found her true calling.
Regulations are much more strict and,
as a result, workplaces are safer.
She was asked to put together a safety program for employees and that experience launched her into a new career.
"I've been working in the industry for nearly 20 years and I
think I've taken nearly every safety course available," Dobson says.
"I started off wanting to be a lawyer, and I find this similar.
I'm still working with the law. I'm helping companies meet safety requirements."
As owner of consulting business Safecon Solutions, Dobson helps residential, industrial
and commercial construction companies manage their safety programs.
She keeps clients updated on workplace health and safety laws and regulations, helps
them incorporate the rules into their practices and performs safety inspections at construction sites.
