>> It's no secret that demand for new homes in and around southwest
Winnipeg has been strong for some time now.
That trend is likely to continue and developers are working hard to meet the
demand. Two communities generating considerable interest are South Pointe
in Waverley West and Prairie View Lakes, just south of Winnipeg in the town
of La Salle.
Ladco began development of South Pointe in 2008 and
is now in the final stages of Phase I, with 1,200 of 1,400
lots already sold. Development of Phase II is set to be-
gin this fall and will ultimately provide another 2,000
lots on the west side of Kenaston Boulevard. The first
lots are scheduled to become available to the public
in fall 2015.
"People can go through Phase I (and see) we've got a
lot of lakes and walkways around the lakes. It's really maturing and looking
good," says David Borger, vice-president of development for Ladco.
"People will be able to understand how Phase II is going to develop. Our
whole first phase is kind of a model and we're going to replicate it on the
other side (of Kenaston) to some degree. The first phase has been hugely suc-
cessful so we anticipate more of the same going forward."
