Borger and Mike Carruthers, Ladco's manager of land development, both say a big part of what makes South Pointe unique is its seamless blend of natural beauty and urban living. It features a prairie wetland-inspired drainage system connected to ponds and creeks and more than 30 acres of parks and walking paths. "We've got a lot of lakes and parks running through the centre of the community and it's easily accessible by all of the residents. You see a lot of families out walking around. Families really enjoy that," Borger says. It's also just minutes away from some of the most popular shop- ping destinations in the city, and more commercial development is expected in the months ahead. "It's a great location in southwest Winnipeg and is close to many com- mercial amenities. I think southwest Winnipeg has always been very popular due to that," Carruthers says, adding the community is also close to the University of Manitoba while a new dual-track kindergar- ten - Grade 8 school is planned. Another plus is that home buyers and builders are encouraged to be creative instead of being forced to adhere to stringent design guide- lines.
