"We're always looking for feedback from the residents on how we're doing," says Eric Vogan of Qualico Communities. "If we have an idea that doesn't work for them, they can talk to us and help shape the direction the community takes. Of course, positive feedback is al- ways a good thing, too!" he laughs. One common development Sage Creek residents have been most pleased with is the variety of new shops and services that are part of their village centre, includ- ing a dentist, veterinarian, Tim Hortons, two banks, a Sobeys, and a gas bar. And even more ventures are still in the works, says Vogan, including a Shoppers Drug Mart and a liquor vendor. New restau- rants are planned as well, with popular options like subs, pizza or sushi under consideration. The big buzz around Sage Creek right now is about the ground- breaking for the new kindergarten to Grade 8 school. This dual track (French Immersion and English) state-of-the-art school will accom- modate 450 - 600 students and include both an Early Learning and Child-Care Centre for up to 114 children. With construction starting later this year, the project is slated to be finished in time for the 2016 school year. Families may be pleased about the new school, but the kids are even more excited about the new playground that will be located next door. "With both junior and senior school areas, there will be a variety of play structures and amenities to suit dif- ferent ages and abilities," says Tara Reid of Qualico Communities. "In the meantime, two other brand-new mini-playgrounds in different parts of Sage Creek are making the wait a little easier!" Cooling and her family say it's been great participating in Sage Creek's growth—not just finding a home that was right, but be- ing part of a neighbourhood that's come into its own. "I think it's really amazing to see how far the community has come already," says Cooling. "And I'm excited to see where we will go in the next 5 - 10 years!" Parade of Homes Fall 2014 135
