A plaque commemorates past provincial champions. location: 437 Recreation Centre, off Ingolfs St. PAVED WALKING TRAILS Enjoy over 6 km of paved walking trails that meander along the Icelandic River and throughout the community. Trail markers highlight historical community events and accomplishments. World's Largest Curling Rock – Arborg INTERLAKE'S LONGEST SKATING TRAIL Enjoy a leisurely skate on the Interlake's longest skating trail or play a game of shinny on the Icelandic River. Skates are available for public use. ARBORG & DISTRICT MULTICULTURAL HERITAGE VILLAGE The Arborg & District Multicultural Heritage Village is a working museum and interpretive centre showcasing the multicultural history of rural life and farm communities of the Interlake region prior to 1930. Nestled on 12.9 acres between the Icelandic River and Hwy. 68, the village features five historic buildings completely restored, school, church, windmill, Parish Hall for private parties and community events, aboriginal encampment area, Ukrainian outdoor bake oven, 1921 CPR caboose. Tours from mid-June to September. Admission charged. p: 204-376-5079 e: info.admhv@mts.net w: www.arborgheritagevillage.ca Ashern ASHERN PIONEER MUSEUM The Ashern Pioneer Museum is housed in the former CNR station and includes Ashern's first Church (Anglican), Darwin School, a log house, a post office and a municipal building. The museum also hosts a mini Threshermen's Reunion and weekend in September. Open July and August 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday. Tours and other times on request. Donations accepted. location: 1st St. SW p: 204-768-2394 b STATUE OF A SHARPTAIL GROUSE Located in Sharptail Park, a 5 m/17 ft statue of a sharptail grouse marks the Ashern area as a bird lover's and/or hunter's dream. Chatfield CHATFIELD PARK OF SOUVENIRS MUSEUM Chatfield Park of Souvenirs Museum is located in a 1936 pool hall and barbershop. Visit a 1932 log house, 1907 one-room school, grainery, 1924 Peace Lutheran Church and creamery. Floral gardens are maintained with walking trails. The Hankie House has over 3,000 hankies donated from visitors around the world. Open May to September from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. daily. Group tours by appointment. A light snack available with donation. p: 204-664-2157 b East Selkirk ST. PETER DYNEVOR ANGLICAN CHURCH (PHS) On the east side of the Red River is St. Peter Dynevor Anglican Church. Built in 1852-54, it was the only Aboriginal Anglican parish in the Red River Settlement. Chief Peguis, friend and benefactor to the Selkirk Settlers and defender of Native land rights, is buried in the churchyard. location: 5 km/3 mi north of East Selkirk on PR 508, then follow signs west Eriksdale THE ERIKSDALE CREAMERY MUSEUM The Eriksdale Creamery Museum is the only kind in Manitoba showcasing the functions and equipment of butter making in rural Manitoba. Open June and September by appointment; July and August 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday to Saturday or by appointment. Guided tours available.
