Winnipeg Highlights Festival du Voyageur (pages 27 & 36) –
Feb. 17 - 26 The grandest winter festival in the west, this celebration of francophone culture recalls the joie de vivre of the fur-trade era. Historic Fort Gibraltar is transformed into Voyageur Park, with an international snow sculpting contest, a snow bar, rustic French cuisine, live music, jigging and boisterous games. The bonhomie spreads throughout the French Quarter of St. Boniface and spills over to "trading posts" across the city. You'll quickly discover why it's known as the world's largest kitchen party. Bon Festival!
