>> the Beatles topped the pop charts and apollo 11 astronauts walked on the moon when Signa- ture Homes built its first house in 1969. it's fair to say they don't build them like they used to — they build them even better. Signature Homes ushered in a whole new era in 2015. acquired by third-generation Brandon-based family business J&g group on Jan. 1, the company has new management and a new commitment to customer service — along with new styles of contemporary houses. general manager gerry Mawhinney says the Signature tradition of quality workmanship and attention to detail remains, but with a distinct new vision for affordable housing with a unique, modern look. Show homes in the Bridgwater neighbourhoods and South Pointe include the three-bedroom al- pine model at 311 Stan Bailie Drive. With a sloped shed-style roof and mix of ma- sonry and wood-grain steel siding, it has the curb appeal of a custom-built home, and the natural elements carry through to the interior, with reclaimed-wood wall treatments and wide-plank, wood-grain flooring. The 2,001-square-foot two-sto- rey home has a main-floor laundry room, master walk-in closet and en suite, spa- cious foyer and extra-wide second-floor hallway, along with a few retro-chic decor surprises. Mawhinney says customers are always happy and excited when they get the keys to a new house, but Signature Homes is still there for them after they settle in. The company surveyed past home buyers and used their feedback to implement an unparalleled customer ser- vice program. "When you phone, we answer," he says. "Lots of times it's just having someone pop by and show them how to use some- thing. Maybe they don't know how to use their HRV system and during the walk- through process there was so much go- ing on that they didn't pay attention. So it's just making sure that they're comfort- able in their house and ultimately they're really happy. "everybody who's taken possession this year is saying it's some of the best cus- tomer service they've received with one of the biggest purchases of their life."
