Parade of Homes FALL 2015 95 in addition, Bridgwater Centre offers a mix of com- mercial and residential space in the heart of the neighbourhood on 75 acres of buildable land. Red River Co-op was the first business to open and gro- cery giant Save-On-Foods will be one of the main commercial anchors. in addition to a growing list of amenities, the Neighbourhoods of Bridgwater boast an unparal- leled architectural appearance. "We like to think of Bridgwater as a unique devel- opment that's a little bit different than your con- ventional developments," Rewniak says. "We have architectural guidelines in place that do not allow the builders to repeat designs until after a certain number of lots." Recessed garages enhance the overall look of the area and create a more community-friendly streetscape, and exteriors incorporate a mix of stucco, stone, siding and brick. in Bridgwater Lakes and Bridgwater Trails, 50% of single-family homes are designed to be "visitable," with a no-step front entrance, wider doorways and an accessible washroom on the main floor. "These visitable homes certainly make it easier for people with mobility issues to access the home," Rewniak says. "even for families with strollers, it makes it easier to get into the home without hav- ing those impediments that the steps create." For single-family homes, the neighbourhoods fea- ture traditional front-drive styles as well as back- lane styles, which allow construction on smaller lots to increase density and affordability. Randall Homes is displaying show homes for both the front-drive style (157 Willow Creek Rd.) and the back-lane style (156 Cherrywood Rd.) in Bridgwa- ter Trails. The front-drive style home showcases a new two- storey design called the Woodbury ii, says Randall Homes vice-president Jason Jaquet. "it's got a lot of different architectural features that you don't ex- pect to see at that price point for the home. it's got all the fit and finishes that you've become accustomed to in a Randall Home — the larger windows, the floor plan, the proper flow," he says. "it comes with a deluxe ensuite for the husband and wife. There's a bonus room upstairs for the kids. it's a great style of home, and the neighbourhood has come a long way. There are unique designs for the homes and families like it out there." With 30 show homes and condo display suites open during the Fall Parade of Homes, home buyers have a vast selection to choose from, including entries from a&S, arlt, artista, Broad- view, Discovery, gino's, Hearth, Hilton, Kensington and Ventura Homes. Signature Homes is offering a 1,266-square-foot bungalow at 160 Cherrywood Rd. as an affordable alternative to a condo for entry-level buyers and mature homeowners who want to downsize but still want a detached home. On a visitable lot, it's wheelchair accessible and has an open layout that's conducive to entertaining, with a funky barn-style entry door, wood-grain cabinets and dark granite countertops. at the high-end of the spectrum, Maric Homes has a stunning showpiece at 100 Lake Bend Rd., with a dramatic timber canopy over the front entry, two main-floor decks and a massive spa off the master bedroom. Just up the street at 118 Lake Bend Rd., an airy entry from KDR Homes features wood beams over the extended kitchen island, with stone countertops, high-altitude ceilings and a walkout lower level. in addition to providing outstanding variety in a people-friendly development, Bridgwater offers benefits to the city as a whole. Rewniak says Manitoba Housing pours all the profits into the Housing Development and Rehabilitation Fund. "This fund is used to help fund housing projects and programs throughout Winnipeg in areas of need." 'We like to think of Bridgwater as a unique development that's a little bit different than your conventional developments. We don't want to see a lot of repetition as far as house design' KDR Homes – 118 Lake Bend Road
