EXCHANGE

The Exchange District's
newest restaurateurs
aren't afraid of a little
competition.
Mike Del Buono, owner of
King + Bannatyne, says
it's a case of "the more,
the merrier."
"The more independent
restaurants that can
open up here, the better,
because it attracts more
people to the area," he
says. "The biggest thing
I noticed as soon as I
opened my doors was how
welcoming the other res-
taurants in the neighbour-
hood are."
Del Buono put his
strength-in-numbers
theory to the test when he
teamed up with Bronuts
during the Burger Week
competition. Instead of a
bun, their concoction sand-
wiched a burger between
two donuts.
"The burger worked well.
Instead of a sweet glaze on
the donuts, it was a goat-
cheese glaze," Del Buono
says. "It caused a ruckus
during Burger Week, which
is what we wanted."
It's a good thing new res-
taurateurs are welcomed
since there are more and
more of them in the area.
