NATIONAL TRUCKING WEEK - 3 I TRUCKING Sincerely, Dan Guimond President and CEO Manitoba Public Insurance Greetings from Manitoba's Minister of Infrastructure Blaine Pedersen National Trucking Week (September 4-10, 2016) As Manitoba's new Minister of Infrastructure, it is an honour to bring greetings to the Manitoba Trucking Association and its dedicated members during National Trucking Week. In recent months, the Province of Manitoba and the Manitoba Trucking Association have worked collaboratively on many initiatives contributing greatly to the benet of industry and the economy. Knowing that close to 95 per cent of all consumer goods and food products are moved by truck in Canada, and that the trucking sector directly contributes over $65 billion towards the national GDP, we understand your industry and the importance of the work that you do. My team and I remain committed to working collaboratively with the Manitoba Trucking Association. Together we will overcome barriers to internal trade by looking into new options to move forward on items such as regulatory reform, transportation policy harmonization under the New West Partnership Agreement, infrastructure renewal and Green trucking. In saying all that, we also believe that Manitoba's participation in the Western Task Force will facilitate a relatively seamless transition with the New West Partnership Agreement with respect to truck regulation harmonization. I am excited to work with you on upcoming initiatives which will benet both the provincial government and the trucking industry. The trucking industry contributes so much to not only our provincial economy, but to every small town and community across this province. On behalf of the Manitoba government and Manitobans across the province, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude and appreciation for your hard work, dedication and professionalism. This province would be nowhere near as great as it is without your contribution and commitment.
