3 Making More Connections with Today's Executive Network (TEN) Today's Executive Network (TEN) is growing stronger every day — literally. The unique business networking organization owned and run by young Winnipeg entrepreneur Glen Buhler has grown to 1,870 members since it was incorporated in August 2014, adding 600 new members since TEN magazine premiered last fall. From its inception, TEN has been a different kind of networking group. Member executives and business owners are invited to participate in several high-end group events throughout the year, from golf outings with professional instruction to a recent Chinese New Year celebration. The idea is to bond over shared activities, getting to know one another in a relaxed atmosphere that's conducive to building close relationships. If those relationships lead to business partnerships, all the better. A lifelong entrepreneur, Buhler wanted to be involved in a network whose members did more than just hand out business cards, so he created TEN for like-minded business leaders. "It really ended up being what networking is supposed to be, because I got to build relationships with somebody and eventually they become a customer," he says. Members represent virtually every service businesses need to operate smoothly — professional services firms, entertainment spaces, not-for-profit organizations, Internet providers, equipment suppliers, manufacturers and marketing firms to name just a few. This April, TEN is hosting its second business summit, the TENx Growth Summit, at RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg. In typical TEN form, it won't be a business- as-usual conference. Rather than spend a day listening to a series of speakers, attendees will be active participants, gathering practical information they can use in their workplaces right away, and connecting one-on-one with experts at the summit's Growth Expo. But you don't have to wait until April to meet some of TEN's innovative entrepreneurs and executives. Turn the page and discover some of the people and businesses who contribute to the network's success. ❚ Learn more about membership at www.discoverten.ca.
