In Manitoba, as in other Canadian provinces and territories, most plants can only be operated under the supervision of a certified and licensed power engineer. PoWer engineering 5th claSS – BaSic Building oPerationS This course focuses on all aspects of heating plant operation. This is a study class (approved by the Fire Commissioner's Office of Manitoba) and will prepare students to write the provincial exam. 900 hours of practical boiler experience are required to be eligible to write the provincial exam; 450 practicum hours are earned by achieving 65% in the study class. Each participant is responsible for arranging their own additional 450 practical boiler experience hours - Life Long Learning does not make these arrangements for participants. Requirements: Basic math skills and a good command of the English language are essential to successful completion of this course. Each participant is required to have textbooks by the first session. The text books can be ordered from the Red River College Bookstore, Notre Dame Campus, 204.632.2351. The 3rd edition (version 3.2) is required.
