HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT All Manitobans Benefit from Tourism

The way a performance on stage can inspire us, a family trip can bring us closer together or a cultural experience can teach us new perspectives and ways of being…that’s all tourism. Tourism is a vast, tariff-free export that touches every corner of our province. The tourism industry is filled with people who are devoted to creating amazing experiences—whether maintaining our parks and trails, running our attractions or working at hotels, sporting events, concerts, museums, galleries, theatres and restaurants—or anything in between. Tourism is an economic multiplier Visitors spend over $5 million in Manitoba each day, generating $385 million in provincial tax revenue and supporting over 25,000 direct and indirect tourism jobs.

This revenue enables investments in our province’s healthcare, education, infrastructure and more. For example, one year of tourism-generated tax revenue could fund three new hospitals, six new schools or nearly 300 km of resurfaced highway—and we owe it all to tourism. Building a stronger Manitoba Backed by the award-winning Canada’s Heart is Calling brand, collaborative industry partners and an array of transformative visitor experiences, tourism offers us a powerful opportunity to bolster our cities, towns and communities as great places to live, work or invest—and to visit, whether from across the world or from an hour’s drive away. The next time you dine out, take a trip to the museum or spend a day at the spa, know that it’s all part of the economic boost tourism provides every year, and that you’re helping to build a stronger Manitoba.
