UCN’s approach focuses on aligning training with labour market demand. “First, we work closely with industry all over and in the com- munity,” Grant says. “Second, we put on training that’s relevant to the local labour market.” That includes initiatives such as the UCN Mining Readiness program, a tuition- free four-week course designed to introduce partici- pants to mining careers.
