"There are more manufacturers and now because of the flexibility
of what you can do with an LED board, they're creating some very
sculptural looking fixtures," says Alison Demare, branch manager
at Robinson Lighting Centre.
"And from an installation standpoint, there's way more flexibility as to
where they can be used … you can certainly still have your integrated
LED pots, you can still have a decorative fixture in the middle (of the
room), and you can still have your decorative lamps, so you can create a
variety of different moods or functions within a space."
On the downside, once the light source wears out, the entire fixture
needs to be replaced, but integrated LED technology isn't going away
anytime soon.
While there are plenty of other forward-looking trends on the horizon
for 2019 — oversized pendants for maximum impact, lamps with earthy
