Pilot Mound The community in the heart of the Pembina Valley was named for a mound that can be seen from 25 km/16 mi away. It was known as Little Dance Hill by the Assiniboin First Nation and a landmark for explorers and settlers travelling across the prairie. MARRINGHURST HERITAGE HOUSE Marringhurst Heritage House, built in 1909, is a fully restored, designated municipal heritage site. It operates as a turn-of-the-century farmhome museum with spacious lawns. Modern kitchen facilities provide an elegant venue for group light meals. Three control boards handle as many as 12 trains operating at once. The Railroad Museum and Picture Gallery has over 2,000 items including pictures, railroad artifacts, books, magazines, railroadania and memorabilia. Tours welcome. Open by appointment. View displays of arts and crafts, Easter eggs, wood carvings, traditional breads, embroidered hand-crafted clothing, musical instruments and a replica of log house/thatched roof.
