GOWNS FOR GRADS Graduation is a special time, and is the culmination of hard work and determination for students. This time can also be a tremendously expensive proposition with yearbooks, dinners, photographs and festivities swallowing up hundreds of dollars. Something we don't always stop to think about is the fact that for many of our graduates who are raising children in a one-parent household, there is a financial barrier that hampers the festivities of the day. On May 14, 2012, a lucky group of ladies from the Aboriginal Community Campus were invited by Gowns for Grads to the Winnipeg Winter Club where they were witness to a fabulous fashion show. From this, the ladies were assisted by volunteers and were able to choose the perfect gown for graduation. The ladies were truly grateful to the Laura Milner White Committee – Gowns for Grads program, and it is through their generosity and caring that on June 21, 2012, graduation will be a day to remember! A heartfelt THANK YOU goes out to Gowns for Grads for inviting the Aboriginal Community Campus students to this wonderful event.
