Claiming the Dignity of Cremated Remains At a time when the secular world offers 'twenty seven things to do with cremated remains', we can be overwhelmed by the many different options presented to us when a loved one dies, including dispersing and scattering remains, or keeping them at home. Housed within St. Gianna Beretta Molla Roman Catholic Church, Living Waters Columbarium offers a reverent alternative rooted in the traditions of our Catholic faith. Come discover the unique characteristics and ministry of our columbarium - an integral part of our parish mission, shaped and fashioned through the charisms of our beloved patroness, St. Gianna Beretta Molla. The first of its kind in Canada, our columbarium ensures entombment in a living, praying community of faith, where the beloved dead are perpetually remembered in prayer. The deceased are entombed beneath the life-giving waters of baptism, a sign of our participation in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Memorial Opportunities The columbarium offers a number of unique memorial opportunities. These include memorial niche doors to commemorate the beloved deceased whose remains are entombed or interred elsewhere. Our memorial wall for the unborn enables families to create a place of prayer and memory for the briefest of lives lost through miscarriage, abortion and stillbirth. The babies whose names are inscribed are remembered and celebrated annually on the Feast of Holy Innocents. Options to commemorate the beloved deceased ensure that those who have gone before us are remembered and present in mystery within various celebrations and events throughout the year. These opportunities include the personalized candles of the dead for the celebration of All Souls, Christmas and Easter memorials, as well as memorial floral arrangements in the columbarium to commemorate significant dates, including birthdays, wedding and death anniversaries, and 40 th day anniversaries of death. Our Ministry Remembering the beloved dead and supporting those who grieve characterize the unique ministry that flows from our faith community through the columbarium. Our celebration of the Feast of All Souls, Blue Christmas and the Feast of Holy Innocents have a particular focus on those entombed and memorialized in the columbarium. The beloved dead will be remembered within one of our Eucharistic Celebrations on the first Sunday of every month. Following these and all other liturgies, families of the deceased are invited to spend time visiting in the columbarium. Our support to the bereaved extends beyond our church walls. The members of our bereavement ministry walk alongside those who grieve by way of pastoral visits, conversation and the facilitation of our bereavement process. Living Waters Columbarium Claiming the Dignity of Cremated Remains One Chapel Remaining The columbarium features 2700 entombment niches, including a limited number of single niches, and four family chapels. Our chapels offer a unique opportunity to create a multi-generational legacy for families.
